This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
I don’t usually hop on unrelated sponsored post opportunities but when Groupon reached out and asked if I would showcase their Groupon’s Mother’s Day Gift Shop I thought, why not?
Especially because, and this may seem silly, I have some really strong gift opinions. The Husband calls me a Scrooge and I guess I am because I really don’t see the point of most traditional gift giving ideas.
Let’s take jewelry, for example, which seems to be the go-to gift for females. I’m just not a fan. It all seems like a waste of money to me. Maybe because I don’t typically wear jewelry but more than that, it’s so generic. Like…
Hey! You’re a girl. I didn’t bother to get to know you well enough to buy you something you’d really like so how about this shiny rock on a string! Yea! Isn’t it pretty?
Am I right?
Well, unless you actually like jewelry I guess.
In The Husband’s eyes I’m also a Scrooge as I don’t want STUFF. I’m much rather do something than get something — that’s why I like the whole Groupon Experience category.
He’s the opposite. He much rather get something than do something which is why I can buy him anything and he’s pretty much happy.
What do they say about opposites?
Anyway, I looked though the list of gifts on Groupon and I will say, I was quite impressed. They had a really nice variety, even for Scrooges like me.
For example, TONS of spa options. I’m not going to link to a particular one as it’s pretty irrelevant and would be based on my specific location.
Right now they are having a Mother’s Day $0 Deal for 1 Year’s Worth of Spa Days on Groupon which I entered. Cross your fingers for me!
The cool thing about spa gifts is that there is something for everyone. I’m a massage girl but from facials to hair to nails, there’s something to pamper everyone! If you have a mom, know a mom, or are a mom, get a spa package. We don’t treat ourselves enough.
I just scheduled appointments for me and my Mom Sunday. :)
Speaking of treats, they also have a lot of food gifts which I’m usually against UNLESS they are macaroons. Then I’m ALL ABOUT IT!
Seriously, if you are thinking of buying a Mom an edible gift make it completely indulge worthy. No one needs anymore generic butter cookies or cheap chocolate. We just don’t.
Since we are in the edible arena, coffee or in my case, tea, always makes a great gift!
It let’s mom indulge with some fun things she probably won’t never buy herself. I love tea so getting fun gift baskets like this is fabulous! Like a giant taste test! Who knows? I may find a new favorite.
Moving away from consumable gifts, pictures are ALWAYS a safe bet.
As a busy mom, I, for one, appreciate when someone gives me a framed, hang-up-able photo as it’s hard for me to find time to print and prep them myself. As a gift giver I know the grandparents are never disappointed when I get them these kinds of gifts as well. They are fun and personal — two of my must adjectives when considering a present.
Since I mentioned Grandparents, a funny, ironic, t-shirt is always fun.
What’s cooler than Grandma wearing a cool T?
Nothing really.
If you are interested in any of these (or any) Mother’s Day gift ideas there’s a Mother’s Day Mystery Promo sale happening on 5/7-5/8. Login to Groupon to receive anywhere from 20%, 25%, or 30% off up to 3 Local Deals!
This was, of course, a sponsored posted by Groupon for their Mother’s Day Campaign. All opinions expressed are my own. I’m sure Groupon would have loved it if I did actually like jewelry. ;)
